Review: Liz Earle Eye Try-Me Kit and Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion

Ciao! Questa sarà la prima di diverse review che leggerete in queste pagine su alcuni prodotti della ditta cosmetica inglese Liz Earle che sto provando da alcune settimane. Voglio specificare che i prodotti sono stati tutti acquistati da me coi miei soldi, tranne i campioncini che mandano di prassi con ogni ordine. Non leggetevi una nota polemica nei confronti di tutte le blogger che hanno ricevuto i loro prodotti gratuitamente perché NON C’E': non avrei mai curiosato sul sito di Liz Earle se non fosse stato per le loro recensioni! Semplicemente, ci tenevo a mettere in chiaro questo punto dato che si parla di un marchio che ha mandato e manda molti prodotti in prova-omaggio in giro per la rete.

Hi! This is gonna be the first review of a series about some products by UK brand Liz Earle which I’ve been testing for three weeks so long. I want to state that I personally bought all of those products, except for complimentary samples they use to send with every order. I am NOT blasting all the bloggers who received Liz Earle products for free by saying this, ’cause I would have never ordered from this e-shop if I hadn’t read their review. I only want to made my point clear about that as it’s a company that sent and send many products to the bloggers for free trials.

I prodotti arrivano contenuti in una bustina giallo chiaro col logo dell’azienda e con la fodera interna impermeabile. // Products arrive in a light yellow bag with company logo and water-resistant internal cover.

Prezzo/Price: ￡23,75 (circa €28)
Tutti i prodotti contenuti sono acquistabili singolarmente. Il costo totale dei prodotti, se acquistati al di fuori del kit, è di ￡24,75.
Il risparmio è quindi di una sterlina e in più si ha la bustina. Posso già dare un primissimo quanto scontato consiglio: a meno che non vogliate provare tutti e quattro i prodotti, non vale la pena di acquistare il kit. In caso contrario, una sterlina equivale circa ad €1,20 ovvero due caffé al bar dell’università: io ho preferito risparmiarla XD

All products can be bought individually at the total price of £24,75: you save a pound and lose the bag. My personal advice is to buy the kit only if you want to try all of the products included. Eitherway, it’s a so small saving that you could take into consideration only if you’re a penny-pincher XD

Farò recensioni specifiche dei singoli prodotti in questo e nei post a venire: su alcuni non ho formulato ancora un parere definitivo perché non li ho utilizzati abbastanza, mentre altri li ho usati diverse volte da quando mi sono arrivati (tre settimane fa, il 20 gennaio).

Posso dire però una cosa sul kit. Sicuramente, come ho già detto, per chi è interessato a provare quasi tutto il range dei prodotti Liz Earle per la cura della delicata area degli occhi è un buon kit.
Personalmente avrei incluso anche una mini size (che non esiste, peraltro!) anche del Eye and Lip Treatment della linea Superskin, in modo da poter provare davvero tutti i prodotti che la Liz Earle ha realizzato e dedicato a questo settore specifico della skincare.

One thing I can say about this kit: it’s a good purchase for who is interested in trying (almost) the whole Liz Earle eye treatments range.
I would have liked also a mini size of Superskin Eye and Lip Treatment to be included in the kit, in order to try all the Liz Earle eye care products. Liz Earle should think about it

EYEBRIGHT™ SOOTHING EYE LOTION
Premetto subito una cosa: l’altro ieri mi è arrivata la full size, quindi posso mostrarvelo in entrambe le versioni disponibili sul sito. Questo dovrebbe farvi già capire cosa ne penso… Ma prima mi atterrò alla descrizione oggettiva del prodotto!

As preliminary remark, I have to say I received the full size of this product, this week, so I can show you all the available sizes. I think this would be enough to know which is my opinion about it. However, I’m gonna do things properly!

Packaging: flacone di color giallo crema. Nel caso della full size esso è più alto che largo, con il tappo che si gira facendo fuoriuscire un beccuccio erogatore. La travel size ha un normalissimo tappo che si svita.
Aspetto e profumazione: è un liquido (MADDAI?) praticamente incolore ma che rivela una leggerissima colorazione gialla quando viene versato sui dischetti di cotone. L’odore è molto delicato, di erbe. Sono un’incapace a distinguere i profumi che non siano quelli di alimenti commestibili quindi non so se a prevalere sia l’hamamelis, l’aloe, il fiordaliso o l’eufrasia… Posso dire che però è poco invadente e quindi non dovrebbe dar fastidio ai nasi più sensibili agli odori forti o strani.
Utilizzo: si versa qualche goccia su un dischetto di cotone e lo si appoggia sugli occhi, massaggiando delicatamente. Il procedimento andrebbe seguito tendenzialmente la mattina, dopo essersi lavati il viso e prima di mettere la crema contorno occhi, e la sera dopo essersi struccati, ma può esser ripetuto ogni qual volta si senta la necessità di disarrossare e decongestionare l’area.
Volendo si possono prendere due dischetti, imbibirli completamente con la lozione e tenerli appoggiati sugli occhi per 5-10 minuti.

Packaging: cream yellow flacon. Full size has a twist up cap and it has a narrow rectangular shape. Travel size has a common screw cap.
Appearing and Smell: it’s an almost colourless lotion that reveals a very slight yellow hue when pourred on a cotton pad. Eyebright Lotion has got a delicate, fresh herbal scent (I can’t tell by which of the herbs it’s made this scent is given) that even people who can’t stand strong smells would probabily like.
How to use: pour some drops on a cotton pad and put it on eyes, sweeping very gently. This could to be done at least in the morning, after having cleansed face, and before going to sleep, but you can apply this lotion whenever you need to soothe and relax your eyes.
You can also soak two pads in Eyebright Lotion, put them on your eyes and relax for 5-10 minutes.

Full size twist-up cap

La mia opinione: ho usato questa lozione fin dal giorno in cui ho ricevuto l’ordine ed è diventato un gesto fondamentale della mia routine giornaliera.
Ho gli occhi spesso stanchi ed arrossati, un po’ perché sono molto geek, un po’ perché soffro di raffreddore perenne, soprattutto perché ho gli occhi piuttosto sensibili ed irritabili (posso usare pochi struccanti, faccio un uso molto limitato delle lenti a contatto e devo stare attenta alla combo matita nera nella rima interna-lenti).
Questa lozione funziona esattamente come le bustine di camomilla (o i dischetti freddi, imbevuti di camomilla) e come il bagno oculare: come le prime rinfresca e lenisce i rossori, mentre sgonfia e decongestiona rapidamente come l’ultimo.
Perché allora mi piace tanto e l’ho ricomprata? Oltre ad una questione meramente pratica, perché, diciamocelo, è più comodo e veloce avere una lozione giù pronta che basta versare su un dischetto e via, soprattutto la mattina quando si è di fretta… E non so voi ma io la camomilla dopo marzo difficilmente la bevo XD I motivi sono due: è efficacissima per rimuovere i residui di trucco, soprattutto mascara, che il mio struccante occhi non riesce ad eliminare, ma a differenza dei bifasici risulta tutt’altro che aggressiva sui miei occhi. Inoltre, da quando uso questa lozione non ho più avuto bisogno di utilizzare il collirio: mi sono svegliata alcune volte con gli occhi gonfi ma mai paonazzi.
E poi mi piace l’effetto sveglia istantaneo che dà sia al mio sguardo che soprattutto al mio contorno occhi, che riceve un’ulteriore, anche se minima, idratazione, e male non gli fa dato che è piuttosto secco.
Insomma, ho dovuto comprare la full size perché non riesco a farne a meno

My opinion: I’ve used Eyebright Lotion since the day I received my first Liz Earle order and this product became an important part of my daily routine.
I often have red and tired eyes, as a result of the combo of a very geeky lifestyle, my perennial cold and (most of all) my sensitive and prone to itchiness eyes: I can use very few make-up removers on my eyes, I can’t wear contact lenses everyday and I have to avoid to put eyeliner in my inner rim when I wear lenses.
Eyebright Lotion has very similar function and results as chamomile bags or ophthalmic solutions: it freshens the eyes and the eye contour skin, soothe the area and reduce puffiness notiveably.
Why do I like this product so much and why did I purchase the full size, so? Of course, for a practical reason: it’s way quicker and easier to apply an already made product on cotton pads and sweeping it for few seconds, expecially in the morning. And I don’t drink chamomile after March XD
There are two other good reasons, though: this lotion removes so well and so gently the make-up residues that my remover leaves. And, second thing, I don’t need eyedrops no more: I have never woken up having blood red eyes as it often happened before during winter.
In add to this, I like how this lotion instantly awakens my eyes and my eye contour. I found it gives also a little more hydration to this area, which is good since mine is quite dry.
In a word, I had to buy the full size because it’s hard to deal without it!

Giudizio finale: l’Eyebright Lotion non è certamente un prodotto indispensabile a tutti né particolarmente innovativo, ma chi ha gli occhi spesso arrossati e gonfi lo apprezzerà molto come alternativa più pratica, veloce e più adatta ad un uso quotidiano dei vari impacchi di camomilla, cetriolo eccetera.

Final assessment: Eyebright Lotion is neither necessary for everybody nor an incredibly new product, but it’s nice to have as a faster, more practical and daily alternative to chamomile or cucumber compress if you often have irritate, red or puffy eyes.
